It Just Takes Seconds

On Saturday night, July 3, Proforma Safety’s editor was awakened to a car crashing into a tree in her front yard. The driver — 17 yrs. old — was worried about being past curfew and was texting her mother. She survived because she was wearing her seatbelt and the air bags deployed. Good structural design of the Honda Pilot preserved the passenger compartment while driving the engine and transmission into the ground.
If you’re attempting to impress your teenager of the importance of staying off the cell phone while driving, perhaps this story and photo might help. There’s also an excellent video, “It Just Takes Seconds,” accessible here.
